Cancer Journal #76

I had my PSA  levels checked again yesterday and again, they were too low to be detectable.  I had emailed the oncology specialist ahead of time to tell her that I would like to discuss a pause in taking my meds--three or six months.  Testosterone is better than no testosterone, everything else being equal.  Everything else is not equal was the upshot of our discussion.  Open that box and she feared what would come out of it.  I guess I see that.  She said we could discuss it again in 2023.

Last time I had my three month injection of the stuff that turns off the T, I asked the injector lady to tell me something about herself that I wouldn't have known.  Turned out she had been a professional water skier who had traveled around the world, water skiing.  I told the lady who did the injection this time all about that and she tried to figure out who that could have been.  I asked her to tell me something about herself that I wouldn't have known.  The best she could come up with was that she had taken violin lessons when she was in 5th grade but she was no good at it and stopped doing it after not much time had passed.  I think I'll stop asking that question.

My wife and I ate out to celebrate the PSA number.  Never had done that before but maybe we should have.  Beautiful blue skies and temperatures in the mid 70s was also something to celebrate.  We got a table outside and had a merry time.

  2. Great news, Charlie! Sounds like a lovely dinner.

I think you should keep asking people that--some might not be that interesting, but some WILL!

    1. You are right, Jan. I was just kind of saying that. Although I am now more apt to ask people to tell me something about themselves because of your advise.

    2. Apropos, I mailed off eight boxes of buttons to my sister in Alaska. (There's a story there that I won't tell) Some confusion arose when the zip code for the address was wrong. I explained that my sister, who had done the addressing has some dyslexia going on. I went on to explain that she is 80 and can do the splits. The clerk said that she too is able to do the splits (although not 80 years old). Anyway, nice to engage the people you deal with. Find out interesting stuff that way.
