Cancer Journal #74 April 4

A change of pace.  I'm writing about mold today.  Spero Clinic, always turning over stones, had me do a Mycotox Profile.  It found my Mycophenolic Acid to be 484.11 when it should be below 37.4.  Also my Dihydrocitrinone or Citrinin was at 182.82 when it should be less than 25.  Although everything else was fine, I've got some mold problems.

It's a touchy issue for me.  I am loath to throw out whatever has been in the refrigerator too long.  I eat it instead.  A little mold?  No big deal.  Just cut it off and eat the rest.  And then the bedroom Jean and I sleep in is on the north side of the house where it gets no sunshine.  It's pretty close to a ravine where dampness abounds.  Green stuff grows on the siding.  We've pressure washed it a couple of times but I suppose all that did was drive the green stuff up under siding and into the interior wall.

As ever, I'm puzzled by the bad numbers since I feel just fine.  Both molds create immunity system problems, including suppression of the formation of T cells of Covid-19 fame.  Thing is, I just don't get sick very much (aside from the small matter of a stage four cancer diagnosis).  I wonder what marvelous condition I would be in if the numbers of this and the other tests I've done were where they were supposed to be.  I just don't know how I could feel much better.  Maybe I would fly with Peter Pan.  That'd be good.

I Googled/Wikipediaed the two molds.  That just complicated things. Mycophenolic Acid (MCA) is mostly a medicine.  It's produced by Penicillin.  I've wondered if it doesn't come one of the meds I take but I couldn't find what.  Citrinin (CTN) grows on a range of grains.  I don't know what to do about that.  They also mentioned soy sauce.  I like the taste of Kikkoman soy sauce and put it on my food liberally and regularly.  I could do something about that.  I recently (and coincidentally) bought some Marmite.  The British spread it on toast.  I tried that.  I did not say, "Why haven't I been doing this my whole life?"  I could put it on some other stuff.  Probably get used to it.

I am considering passing my Mycotox Profile results on to Mayo Oncology.  I don't know what they would do with them.  It's really not the standard medical model to treat the source of cancer.  My monthly blood test at Mayo consistently showed low hemoglobin.  They were unconcerned about that so long as there was no great variation from month to month.  I think that was not such a great response.  Turns out that anemia is one of the indicators of excess mold in the body.  Maybe a consistently low number falling outside the standard range should have been looked into.  But then, insurance might not have paid for it.  I don't blame Mayo but there are limitations to a standard medical model.

  1. Interesting. Not something I know much about, though I know it's not healthy to be around mold, especially black mold. The penicillin connection is interesting. Isn't it made from mold? Isn't that how it was discovered? The human body is so complex, and so many things can affect it.

I hope you figure out to what degree the mold matters and if you need to do anything to address it.

    Best to you and Jean.

    2. I'm tempted to think that mold is a lot like fermentation and that fermentation is good, right? Plus if the one stuff is medicine, what's wrong with that. Penicillin has saved millions of lives. ;)
