Cancer Journal # 69 Feb 22
Unlike some recent entries, this one will be kind of cancery.
One of the things I have had at Spero Wellness is testing done on my biochemistry. There is one test I've had done called NutrEval which is paid for by Medicare. You can do it once every six months which Medicare will cover. Suggests legitimacy to the testing, at least to my uninformed opinion. Anyway, I had it done in March 2021 and then again in late December, 2021. It measures various forms of toxicity residing in the body. For all the things I do that should reduce the toxins in the body; infrared sauna, supplements of various sorts, a mostly plant based diet and a semi-rigorous exercise program, my toxin levels are not better. Indeed, three out of five are worse, one has improved and one has stayed the same. The worst one is oxidative stress, which on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being worst, is a 9. Who knows what's going on there. My oxidative stress feels absolutely fine. I'm inclined to consider it really not too significant. But still, I wonder. It might be like taking something out of the freezer and into the fridge. The defrosting process makes things start to go active. May not work that way at all.
I have thought that my body is unusually persistent in retaining toxins because my tendency is to seal off or sequester (global warming has put that word into greater use) whatever is toxic, whether negative emotional issues or bad chemicals. It's a good short term strategy--don't want a bunch of toxins sloshing around, making you either anxious or sick. On the other hand, you don't want to to be harboring them either. Might give you cancer or something. This is the rankest of speculation of course.
I got a massage from my daughter last week. There was one place in my back that simply would not respond to her vigorous pressure and manipulation. She suggested I look into dry needle therapy which can loosen a muscle that's got a tangle or something like a tangle in it. The needle will release it when massage can't. I spoke to Jake, the guy who does my fitness coaching, and he told me that the thing he has done is get acupuncture treatments when a muscle is stuck. He gave be a card from a place that he thinks is just remarkably good. The lady is a muscle whisperer (my term, not his). As it happens, the place is right on my way home, a couple of miles from here. She tells me I'm in good hands with Jake. I tell her of my toxins measured at the Spero Wellness, she's all positive about the Spero Wellness, has cards for the place on display, etc. I'm in a nest of good health practitioners. I won't be able to get in until mid-April. The stuck muscle is tolerable. I am hoping she will also find a gate for the toxins. Get a flow going which, as I understand, is what acupuncture is all about. It's what I'm all about too--and the Holy Spirit. No stagnant pools, rivers of living water. Anyway, one way or another, these toxins have a short future with me.
It's so interesting to read of all the various treatments you are trying. We have so many qualified and caring practitioners in Eau Claire for a variety of approaches, and most of them are good about referring a patient out to someone else who might be able to help in a different way.
ReplyDeleteOf course, the rivers of living water approach is wonderful too!
I am grateful for your network of practitioners. I hope the acupuncture treatment unsticks the muscle and helps release the toxins. I have always had good luck with acupuncture. You are in our prayers, as always. Love to Auntie. xo
