Melatonin - research has shown better outcomes for people who take high-dose melatonin for cancer management alone or in combination with traditional chemotherapy. This is incredibly safe and there are no true contraindications for use. Attached is an article titled "Melatonin in Cancer Management", that discusses this in detail. Conservative Dosing: - start with 3 mg of melatonin each night, then every week or so increasing the dose until you are taking 20 mg of melatonin each night - if you get side effects such as headaches, bad dreams, or morning fatigue, back the dose down for a week or two, then try going back up more slowly; only ~5% will have transient side-effects (which may be due to the melatonin itself or perhaps how it was processed +/- fillers); most everyone will tolerate it just fine. - melatonin generally comes in 3, 5, 10 and 20 mg doses, but it is available in a 60mg dose by www.scientifichealthsolutions.com - I recommend getting the higher doses from a reputable pharmaceutical grade supplement company, as they submit to third party testing for purity and potency (where many of the other cheaper companies do not) Higher Dosing: - For cancer prevention and treatment, Dr. Shallenberger recommends a high dose protocol up to 180-360mg per day. He notes: * High dose melatonin has been shown to inhibit cancer through at least 8 different mechanisms. There are also numerous studies showing it helps prevent and treat Parkinson's and Alzheimer's disease, heart disease and macular degeneration. It can protect against “chemo brain” and also reduce collateral damage from radiation. Again, melatonin helps healthy cells, but it assists the body's ability to kill cancer cells by a process called autophagy. * Melatonin is incredibly safe at much higher doses than typically used to assist with sleep. Contrary to popular belief, melatonin does NOT typically induce sleepiness during the day (the brain needs darkness for that), thus most people can take it during the day without difficulty. * Dr. Shallenberg's Melatonin Dose Recommendations: - Prevention or Treatment for low grade (stage 0-2) cancer: Melatonin 180mg 30 minutes before bedtime - Treatment for stage 3-4 cancer: 60mg 1-2 capsules 3-6x/day (ideally every 4-6 hours round the clock as melatonin decreases the ability of cancer cells to replicate; so if they can't divide, the cancer cannot grow) - Radiation Protection: 300mg 2 hours before PET/CT scan * Other Tips: to improve natural melatonin production, keep your bedroom dark, so that you cannot see your hand in front of your face. Use only red light in bedroom at night to prevent sleep disruption. * Melatonin Source - Not all melatonin is created equal. Dr. Shallenberger has tested many products, and recommends these sources: - Melatonin Max – 60 mg pure capsules (www.scientifichealthsolutions.com) - Melatonin powder – www.purebulk.com * References: - Dr Shallenberger’s powerpoint presentation on Melatonin For Cancer Prevention and Treatment - https://riordanclinic.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/03/3-3-Shallenberger-High-Dose-Melatonin-Therapy-An-Ideal-Adjuvant.pdf - listen to Dr Shallenberger’s presentation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Roh4lQXneQg - The melatonin immunomodulatory actions in radiotherapy, published in Biophysical Reviews 2017 found at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5425818/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I watched the youtube presentation (it is a video, not just an audio) referred to above. It was interesting and convincing. As far as ordering the product, you have to be a doctor to get the Melatonin Max and the purebulk stuff was sold out according to what my sister reported. I ordered some (in capsules, not just powder) but they reported having only nine on hand that I guess were thereafter gone. My sister ordered some from Amazon. If you want the Melatonin Max, you can visit the Spero Wellness Clinic in Chippewa Falls where they have it on sale. That's what I've been taking the last four nights.
Update: They have PureBulk capsules for sale now.
Interesting! I was listening to a video the other day that said melatonin would make you a healthier and happier person and help you live longer!
ReplyDeleteAre the products you mentioned slow-release melatonin? Has you provider mentioned that as being better? The person I watched on video said slow-release was better, but I haven't found any yet in town.
No, I'm not doing time released nor have I heard it spoken of. Don't know what that means. What I do know is that I still feel well, well rested in the morning with 180 mg of melatonin before I go to bed.
ReplyDeleteSo glad to hear you're feeling well and waking up well rested!
